Satyananda Yoga - Mangrove is located in a quiet country area amongst bush land on a tidal river. It is only an hour and a half drive from Sydney or 40 minutes from Gosford.

Satyananda Yoga Mangrove provides the ideal natural environment for all people, whatever their personal style, to retreat to. The gentle native bushlands instil a sense of connectedness which stills the mind and prepares one to journey within.

A simple yogic lifestyle is the foundation on which the centre is based. This simplicity creates a space where it is possible to explore deep into your being, coming to a better understanding of your inner environment and how to use that understanding to build a richer more creative outer life.

A typical day includes an early morning asana, pranayama and meditation class, chanting, karma yoga, Yoga Nidra (guided meditation/relaxation) and evening program.

For over 30 years this community of teachers and residents have been practicing and sharing the tools of yogic living. From the wholesome food, through the daily routines to the deeper aspects of yogic philosophy Satyananda Yoga Mangrove integrates all aspects of life creating a harmony between the thoughts, feelings and actions.

Personal Retreat Stay
Come almost any day of the year and stay for up to a month. Personalise your time to suit your current needs. You are free to spend time relaxing in nature, bush walking or swimming. Involve yourself as much or as little as you wish in the daily programs and classes or help out in the kitchen and garden. Personal retreats allow you to be your own guide when structuring your day. Take time out and create the space you need to regain a sense of personal harmony.


Mid-Week Retreat Monday evening to Thursday
Midweek Retreats offer some additional activities, such as bushwalks, creative projects and karma yoga options. You can still maintain your flexibility, choosing to opt in or opt out of activities as you chose and taking time for your own recreational pursuits of art, music, walking… whatever you feel inspired to do.

This higher level of involvement in ashram activities focuses awareness on integrating yoga into daily activities. From the early morning class onwards your day is based on a yogic lifestyle, including healthy vegetarian meals, karma yoga, chanting, relaxation, meditation practices and a variety of evening programs.

Both creative and practical skills such as cooking or clay work are developed and allowed expression, while the ability to work with others and to apply yogic principals consciously to every aspect of life is enhanced through this integrated process.

Accommodation is varied to suit different budgets and preferences – single and twin ensuite rooms are available as well as dormitories and camping. Vegetarian food is plentiful, wholesome and delicious – and special diets are also catered for on request.

Yogic Studies, Teacher Training and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training are conducted by Satyananda Yoga Academy.
