For classes taught by Alex please contact her directly at www.theyogaproject.ca Alex gave her first adjustment when she was six. The child of a yoga teacher, many hours were spent watching her mother teach in a yoga studio in London, England. Her dream in those days was to be a dancer but theatre came along and dancing and yoga were put to the side. She came back to yoga years later prodded by those early memories and a deep need to be more meaningfully connected to her body on a daily basis. The practice felt quite foreign to her for several years before the ‘light bulb’ moment came when it was as if someone threw open a door and she caught sight of a never ending pathway of mystery, magic and learning. She has amassed over 1000 hours of YTT from Octopus Garden in Toronto and the Insight Yoga Institute in San Francisco. Her study with her teachers has set the foundation for her classes which bring yoga, Ayurveda, meditation and spiritual psychology together. Her Hatha yoga classes attempt to support people’s individual constitutions and needs through a practice that is challenging yet soothing, grounding but light. Invigorated and energized, students come away with sharp, clear senses and a feeling of space and energy in the mind and body.

I have gained a broad range of teaching, coaching and leadership experiences in over 20 years of teaching in the fitness industry. In 2002 I "discovered" Yoga and have since explored a number of styles but it was during a trip in 2004 were I fell in "love" with the Viniyoga style being taught in Mahalbapuram India. I am certified in Vinyasa flow Yoga and hold a YMCA Training Educator Certification.

I came to the mat in 1999 and have not looked back! I started teaching in 2004 when my own teacher decided that I was ready. With teaching I discovered a new love and depth of yoga went on to complete yoga teacher training with Maureen Rae. I believe that all teachers have something to offer and have also practiced with Hart Lazer, Rodney Yee, Stephen Cope, Seane Corn, Richard Freeman, Wade Imre Morissette, Eoin Finn and David Life. My teaching style and my own practice are based on honouring individual pranic flow any given day, at any given moment. Each pose is expressed differently by each person, and that is a beautiful thing. I recently completed my Meditation Facilitator Certificate and hold CanFitPro certifications as a Personal Training Specialist and Nutrition Wellness Specialist. I am also certified in Reiki Level II Healing. On one of my recent trips to India I received my Ayurvedic Massage Certificate from the Kerala School of Yoga.

  Move with the breath to build strength, stamina, and mindfulness. Modifications for all levels are offered. Taught by Heather
