Tom & Susan Wilkens teach hatha yoga for the Park District of Oak Park, and Susan also teaches in Franklin Park. Classes are very affordable (@$9 for residents). Tom also teaches 6 classes at Fitness Formula Club in Oak Park, and is a Licensed Massage Therapist & Thai Massage Therapist in private practice. He has studied applications of Ayurveda to yoga & Thai massage & weaves this information into his classes & private sessions. Susan offers private meditation instruction drawing on her wide range of experience using mantra & breath to address specific issues. She teaches two very popular Kundalini Yoga classes in Oak Park, presenting this vibrant form of yoga in a dynamic yet accessible manner.

Susan Wilkens
|
Susan Wilkens RYT brings a wide range of personal yoga experience and study to her classes. She holds certifications as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher, a Hatha Yoga Teacher and a Meditation Instructor, and is an ordained swami in the Kriya Yoga lineage. She is passionate about opening up the beauty of yoga practice to students of all ability and flexibility levels. Her teaching style is thorough, warm and affirming. Students can expect to leave her classes feeling centered, vibrant and good about themselves.
Susan also works individually with students interested in learning to meditate and in building a solid and satisfying regular practice of meditation. She draws from many traditions in laying a solid foundation, and focuses especially on mindfulness and breath-based practices.
She is also skilled at designing personalized Kundalini yoga & meditation practices to enable individuals to meet life challenges successfully and move forward with confidence and strength.
Currently she is studying classical mantra, music and meditation with Russill Paul in his Yogic Mystery School.

|
Tom Wilkens, RYI, RYT, is a 1998 graduate of the Level I Hatha Yoga Teacher Training & Certification Program at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago, one of the oldest & most well-respected yoga centers in the country. In 2005 he completed an additional 300 hours of training through the Temple's Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program. He has been certified to teach Ashtanga by Manju Jois, has studied Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Lino Miele & has completed a Purna Yoga Teacher Training with Aadil Palkhivala. He is also certified to teach Kundalini Yoga. His teaching style is direct, engaging, informative & seasoned with humor. He is known for teaching from a broad base of anatomical knowledge, for encouraging precision in alignment, for linking movement with breath, & for making the most challenging poses accessible.
As a practitioner of sitting meditation and a veteran of 10-day silent vipassana retreats, Tom is grateful that he has been accepted into the one-of-a-kind Mindfulness Yoga & Meditation Training Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in CA.
