Supatha Yoga in Frenchtown NJ, is a fresh-unique style of Yoga and Fitness tailored for Every-Body...age, size or physical ability. Offering many diverse drop-in classes at multiple levels and sequencing daily. Founder and Senior Teacher Sri Lakshmi Devi has a vast knowledge of the human body | mind | spirit; along with a joyful sense of humor and compassionate nature. Each class encompasses a joyful, nurturing, non-competitive atmosphere, assisting you in developing a personal practice at your own pace without judgement. Lakshmi’s clear, precise instruction and attention to proper structural alignment offers a safe, stable environment to practice. It is Lakshmi's goal to make you comfortable and to give you the tools to gain confidence in yourself. It is up to you to listen to your own body, and to set your own intensity and HONOR your Body...

Lakshmi’s dedication to her practice manifests in over 8000hrs of study with 40+ years of practice including 27 years of teaching and hands on experience in the field of Yoga, Health & Fitness. A Senior Member of the International Yoga Association, Registered and Certified 200 and 500 hr. Yoga Therapist with Yoga Alliance. Lakshmi has be awarded numerous certifications in Exercise Physiology as well as certifications in Functional Anatomy of Movement from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Both in traumatic injury and debilitative illness. Formally INTEGRAL Yoga trained and certified under the skillful guidance of Sri Swami Satchidananda founder. An esteemed Spiritual Leader honored with the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award; Dedicated his life to the cause of Peace, both Individual and Universal, and to religious harmony among all People. In 1991 Lakshmi embarked on her lifelong path of loving kindness with his Holiness the fourteenth Dali Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, with in-depth studies on Depression and Human Behavior. A practicing Ordained Interfaith Minister, Reiki Master & Spiritual Coach, with foundational Eastern training in various methodologies of Yoga, including Sivananda, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara and Viniyoga. Well versed in human behavior and applied psychology, Lakshmi is aspiring towards earning her Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and Doctorate in Philosophy.“I've been doing yoga on my own since I was a child. It just came naturally to me.” Smiles Lakshmi After a debilitating accident in her youth which required extensive surgeries, Lakshmi suffered with constant back & neck pain, Hip, shoulder and knee injuries as well as debilitating migraines and severe depression. Taking this traumatic experience & transcending it through applied discipline, mindful awareness, focused intention and above all compassion for oneself is at the heart of Supatha yoga. Enveloped within Lakshmi’s approach to yoga & life lies the mantra, "As we think, so shall we become. Health, healing and personal development start to happen when we change our thought patterns to reflect our best aspirations," offers Lakshmi. My only way back to health and clarity was actualized through my personal Reiki, Yoga and Mindful meditation practices. “It was when I turned to these methods that I felt healing was possible, necessary and where I needed to place my intention to heal.” “I am grateful and humbled by all my teachers, they have guided me in finding deep within...the strength, the wisdom and the courage to journey through my limitations with grace and a joyful heart and to never use the word impossible...”

Sunday 8:00 am - 9:15 am Supatha Sunrise Yoga…TBD
  Actively paced…Ideal for students who practice regularly, seek clarity of key alignment principles and want to deepen their practice based on Supatha's unique ¼ series Surya Namaskar. A creative blend of back bends, inversions, standing, balancing and core postures, united with mindful breathing. Special attention to flow transition and structural positioning for proper range of motion…Guided Deep Relaxation techniques, Reiki Centering, Inspirational Reading & Silent Meditation.
 
Monday 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm Pilates Inspired-Strength, Tone & Sculpt
  A rhythmic practice of precise movements repeated eight to 13 times for each exercise, with a simultaneous emphasis on flow of movement. Focusing on targeted areas that develop core strength, using tension ring trainers, balls, versa bands and weighted body bars for greater resistance, range of motion and core isolation...Emphasis is on using the breath to channel intrinsic energy into the center of the body and out to the limbs to increase alignment awareness and injury prevention.
  5:30 pm - 6:45 pm THERAPEUTIC Yoga Flow
  Gentle but challenging…Specific postures and sequencing to promote spinal stability, strength and flexibility while protecting any per-existing condition. Helps heal back, joint & muscle injuries and weakness and increases Healthy Joint Range of Motion, Postural Alignment and Balance. This class incorporates the use of a chair and props for added support and comfort. (PREGNANT WOMEN WELCOME 12 weeks +)
  6:30 pm - 7:45 pm Beginner Yoga
  A creative sequence of classic Hatha yoga postures with in-depth instruction and structural alignment cues. Active use of props, assists the body in creating proper positioning allowing you to go deeper into the pose, working in a range of motion that is safe and effective helping to prevent injury while challenging the boundaries of your strength...A comprehensive, balanced class with a steady flow; relaxation between postures, and guided breathing techniques throughout...all levels welcome
 
Tuesday 10:30 am - 11:45 am YogaLates - Mind/Body Fusion
  Strengthen your core, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, build your upper body and increase your stamina...Create a pleasing body shape and a sense of balance and vitality...A total Body Workout..!
Slow rhythmic movements initiated by the breath and focusing on targeted areas that develop core strength, flexibility and endurance...using tension ring trainers, balls, versa bands and weighted body bars for greater resistance, range of motion and core isolation.
 
Wednesday 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm Pilates inspired-Strength, Tone & Sculpt

  Prolonged sitting, poor work habits and highly repetitive tasks often create spinal imbalance. Learn key alignment principles; breaking old destructive postural habits. Specific yoga sequencing helps prevent back pain & weakness, promoting spinal stability, strength & flexibility. Structural cues aid in protecting per-existing injuries; increases proper range of motion. If you currently under a Doctor care, please consult the instructor prior to participating in the class. All levels welcome
 
Thursday 10:30 am - 11:45 am Gentle Hatha Yoga
  Practice begins slowly with mindful breath work (pranayama) to create tapas (heat) to warm the body from the inside out, aiding in preventing injury. A calming sequence of sitting postures, floor stretches, gentle twists, as well as standing & balancing poses with be explored. All classes end in guided deep relaxation and silent meditation. Open the heart, ground the body and focus the mind…

  Active yoga props let you reach poses and stretch muscles you may not otherwise be able to; enhancing your yoga practice no matter what your level of fitness or flexibility. Lakshmi will instruct you on using a yoga mat on any surface, how to use a strap to get the results you may have been missing, the proper way to position a yoga block and the benefits of using blankets. Teaching you the fundamentals to get you started using props in the most effective way…

Applying and maintaining proper physical alignment gives us the information to understand our physical relationship with gravity and determines whether our journey will be one of buoyancy & lightness or tension and struggle
