FULL DESCRIPTION OF LISTING
Eco-friendly yoga and meditation retreat centre located on Clare Island, off the Mayo coast. Very peaceful location with stunning views over Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick. The accommodation is in a renovated island cottage and its modern extension, and the 50 sqm yoga studio is in a modern timber building nearby. Solar water heaters and word burning stove for space heating. The food is completely organic, and as much of it as possible comes from our own garden and polytunnel. The centre offers various courses for all levels with resident and visiting teachers throughout the summer. Off season, the centre is open for individual and group retreats, and offers self catering accommodation and organic vegetarian guesthouse. It may also be rented for groups of 5 to 14 people. We welcome helpers and woofers all year round. See our website at www.yogaretreats.ie for more details.

I came to yoga in a round about way, after a background in dance--both ballet and modern, as well as cross-country running. After exploring various alternative forms of movement and exercise, I found myself doing yoga and immediately felt 'at home', and have been practicing now for over ten years. Ashtanga yoga has had the strongest influence on my practice, and I have studied intensively with John Scott, Graeme Northfield, Patthabi Jois and most recently Nancy Gilgoff,in Europe and India. I have also enjoyed greatly the 'lyrical' and 'poetic' styles of teaching from a number of Scaravelli influenced teachers including Rosella Baroncini, Victor Van Kooten, and of course, Paddy MacGrath.
For me, yoga is about practicing alone, facing one's self with one's breath on the mat. My own personal practice has also been greatly influenced in the last five years by two pregnancies and two very happy homebirths.
