VariYoga is a dynamic practice that recognizes ‘one size does not fit all’ and can be modified to meet the needs of the individual. The breath is used to link poses and sequences which range from gentle to vigorous, depending on individual ability. In addition, VariYoga classes, workshops, and teacher training series all include an awareness of alignment, breathing techniques, and a philosophical understanding of Hatha Yoga.
The VariYoga approach includes a therapeutic understanding and intelligently weaves together the various aspects of yoga. A clear presentation of optimal body alignment is incorporated to assure safety in the poses and create harmony in the body and mind.
VariYoga is the collaborative effort of Andrea Fournet and Bryan Fowler, who meld eclectic backgrounds and have more than twenty-five years combined teaching experience. Influenced by the Traditions of Anusara, Iyengar and Viniyoga, together they created this non-dogmatic teaching approach, dedicated to respecting and helping all people discover the benefits of Hatha Yoga.
Style suggested by Andrea Fournet "I am the owner and director of the Arkansas Yoga Center, and head of the teacher training program at AYC. I have been teaching yoga in Northwest Arkansas since moving from Hawaii in 1993. I am a certified Hatha yoga teacher, with training in the Anusara, Iyengar and Viniyoga traditions. I am registered with the Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT500 level. I began my Yoga studies in Hawaii, and continue to train nationally and internationally. Bryan Fowler and I are the co-creators of VariYoga, which is the style taught in classes and teacher training sessions at AYC, and in our workshops"
